What is The Magic of thinking Big about?
Dr. Schwartz shows how to change our brain so that, through an understanding of psychology, ambition, social behavior, goal setting, and leadership, our lives can also change. He does this by relying on his teaching, leadership consulting, and speaking experience gained in many other areas of human activity.

Harry earned sixty thousand dollars a year while his colleagues averaged twelve. Five times the company average. The sales vice president who paraded him in front of new recruits stripped away every easy explanation. Harry wasn't five times smarter. He didn't work five times harder. His territory wasn't richer, his education wasn't deeper, his health wasn't better. Asked for the real difference, the VP gave one sentence: Harry thought five times bigger.
That sentence is the whole book. David J. Schwartz, a marketing professor at Georgia State University, sat down in 1959 to argue something that sounds like wishful nonsense and then spent thirteen chapters proving it isn't. The size of your success, he claims, is determined by the size of your belief. Not the size of your brain. Not the size of your bank account. The size of the picture you can hold steadily in your head about who you are becoming. Six million readers later, the book still moves people because its mechanism is mundane, not mystical. Belief changes what your mind looks for, what it remembers, and what excuses it accepts. Change the input and the output follows.
Schwartz writes in plainspoken postwar American — bricklayers and salesmen, accountants and ministers, Mr. Triumph and Mr. Defeat wrestling for control of your private thought factory. Some of his cultural assumptions, particularly about women in the workplace, have not aged well. The operating principles still bite. Here is what they actually say, chapter by chapter, with the parts that matter to a working adult today pulled to the front.
